Let me start out by saying this: If you’re not on TikTok yet, you are missing out! TikTok may be touted as “the young kids’ social media” but almost a quarter of all TikTok users are mothers, and they are posting an absolute treasure trove of parenting hacks, life advice, and hysterical videos that only parents can truly understand (but are pure comedy for any audience). At this point, the app has basically become an online school for adults, or at least the greatest mommy support group ever. My main beef with other social media platforms is that they have the tendency to be all about portraying the picture-perfect life; a modern day “keeping up with the Jones’” (read: Kardashians). Whereas, on TikTok, you’ll find more accounts where people are keeping it real, showing off the good, the bad, and the straight up hilarious, for our entertainment and pedagogy. There is literally a trend called “Things I learned on TikTok'' where people share information and hacks they’ve learned while browsing the app. While this information is usually trivial, every so often there are absolutely life-changing tips circulating the platform. Whether you’re looking for parenting tricks, some comedic relief, or just need to feel like you’re not alone in the struggle that is parenting, then you need to check out these 6 TikToker parents immediately.
If you’re wondering this took 7 minutes and 14 seconds. I’m sorry but 7min 14 sec isn’t worth me shaming, punishing, or belittling my child 🤷🏽♀️ I got time 👌🏾♬ original sound - Destini Ann
Destini makes positive parenting videos, and she’s really good at it. Her videos have garnered almost 1.5 million followers who flock to her page for her conscious parenting advice, insightful anecdotes, and recommendations for how to deal with some of the more difficult moments in child-rearing. Some of her most viewed videos are centered around how to communicate with your child when they’re talking over you, screaming, or just being plain disrespectful, and honestly, although they’re geared toward communicating with children, even I feel much more at Zen from listening to her explain her techniques. Whether you’re a parent or not, I think we could all learn a lot about kindness, communication skills, and good old fashioned self-respect from Destini Ann.

Kate Bast, the matriarch of TheBastFamily, shares all the parenting hacks she’s accrued through her years of maternity, and placed them all in one convenient package. Her tips are nothing short of ingenious and they span from the time you bring your little bundle of joy home from the hospital, to potty training dos and don'ts, right up to tried and true, must-have products that she has tested and given the stamp of approval so we don’t have to.
@honestlyautumn Best mom and dad hack to save your back! How to correctly carry the CARSEAT! #momsoftiktok #lifehack #fyp #viral ♬ Hey Pretty Girl - Kip Moore
HonestlyAutumn is an account devoted to sharing everyday hacks that make life as a parent a little less challenging. She has an ongoing series titled “Things I wish I knew as a first-time mom” that is currently up to 130+ videos (and counting). I’ve already made mental notes for so many of Autumn’s hacks like how to carry a car seat without breaking your back, DIY home activities to keep your busy toddler occupied, and traveling hacks to keep your little ones on their sleep schedule.
@athomewithshannon BEST SUMMER HACK! Natural Bug Repellent💡 Tips & Hacks from Mom of 4! #momhack #hacks #ecofriendly #summerhacks #tiktokpartner #learnontiktok ♬ LITTLE MO' BETTA - David Davis
Shannon is a mother of four and a culinary wiz.. Her account is heavily based around hacks in the kitchen from how to choose the perfect avocado, cunning uses for aluminum foil, and how to make kids’ snacks that even the pickiest toddler couldn’t say no to. Most of Shannon’s hacks are simple, require very few resources you wouldn’t already have at home, and seem perfectly do-able for even the most kitchen adverse among us.
@elysemyers I left it to the professionals after that. #coffeetalk #theadhdway ♬ original sound - Elyse Myers
Elyse Myers is hands-down one of my absolute favorite people to follow on TikTok. If you came for the dead-pan humor, you’ll stay for her quick wit, and beautifully honest narratives about life’s daily struggles. She has built a following using humor as a means to deal with everyday things we can all relate to. Although she doesn’t always offer parenting hacks, she does provide brutally honest lessons of “don’t make the same mistake I did” and just straight-up #parentingfails that can make us all feel a little less alone in the struggles of being an adult. And feeling like you’re part of a community is at least half the reason for being in a mommy support group, isn’t it?
@dumbdadpod We go through a lot of Magic Erasers. #postgameinterview #artprojects #sportsdad #dadfails ♬ original sound - The Dumb Dads
If Elyse Myers holds the crown for funniest mom on TikTok, then Evan and Kevin from Dumb Dad Pod are easily a pair of front-runners for funniest dads. Their TikToks are typically retellings of the ridiculous and hilarious conversations they have with their various children under the app-wide sub-group of DadLife. Although their videos are largely satirical, there are plenty of gold nuggets of parenting tricks amongst the mounds and mounds of dad jokes. If you’ve ever wanted to look at life through the eyes of an everyday dad (who has a surprisingly robust sense of humor about his situation) just trying to get by, then this is definitely the account for you.
